Decorating My Audi SQ5 for the Holidays… With Chalk Ink® Markers
Every December, I get the decorating itch. The house, the office, even the dog—nothing is safe from my festive enthusiasm. So this year, when we started getting into the holiday spirit at the Chalk Ink® studio, I had a moment of inspiration (or chaos, depending on who you ask):
Why not decorate my car?
Before you panic, let me tell you something important: I drive a white Audi SQ5. My absolute favorite car on earth. This is my second one, and yes, I'm a full-blown Audi loyalist. I baby this car. I keep it spotless. I may or may not have cried when someone dinged it with a shopping cart.
So when I casually announced, "Let's draw on my Audi," the room went silent. You could practically hear the record scratch.
Why This Actually Makes Perfect Sense
If you know anything about Chalk Ink®, you know we love pushing the limits of what our markers can do. Chalkboards? Check. Glass? Check. Menus, mirrors, wood, tile, metal? Check, check, check.
Cars?
Absolutely. But most people don't know that.
This became the perfect opportunity to show what Chalk Ink® markers can really do—on one of the most unexpected (and nerve-wracking) surfaces out there.
A Holiday Makeover: Chalk Ink® Style
Our in-house artist and one of my best friends, Anilyn, immediately grabbed her kit. If you've ever seen her work, you know she can turn absolutely anything into art—and my Audi was no exception.
You've probably seen cars with wreaths clipped to the grill or little antlers attached to windows during the holidays. Cute, but predictable. We wanted something better. Something extra. Something unmistakably Chalk Ink®.
So we drew it directly onto the hood.
I pulled the Audi into the sunlight, and Anilyn worked her magic. She sketched a full holiday wreath—lush greens, soft shading, red berries, and a perfect bow—right on the white paint. If you didn't know it was drawn on, you'd think Audi had secretly released a holiday edition.
Then we moved to the back window and wrote in big, bold letters:
LET IT SNOW
…with our website underneath, of course. Good marketing never sleeps. Check out Anilyn at work here.
The Reactions Were Priceless
Within hours of driving around town, the reactions started rolling in.
Gas stations, grocery stores, parking lots—people stopped me constantly:
"You wrote on your Audi?!"
"Does that… wash off?"
"Oh my gosh, I'd be terrified!"
There was a recurring theme: panic mixed with fascination.
Here's what nobody realizes: Chalk Ink® Wet Wipe markers clean right off non-porous surfaces, even cars. Even luxury cars! Even white luxury cars! The markers go on smooth and vibrant and wipe off easily with water or a gentle cleaner. No ghosting. No staining. No regrets.
It's Not Just for the Holidays
Now, we know this blog is wrapped in holiday cheer, but the truth is you can do this any time of year.
Celebrating a birthday?
Write a giant message on your back window.
Tailgate season?
Paint your team's colors and logo on the side panels.
Wedding getaway car?
Skip the damaging shoe polish and create something beautiful that actually wipes off.
Business promotion?
Your car is free advertising that goes everywhere you do.
Chalk Ink® markers aren't seasonal—they're a "whenever you feel like being creative" tool. Cars just happen to be one of the most fun, unexpected canvases out there.
A Little Audi Love
Is this blog also a subtle love letter to Audi? Absolutely.
We're Audi fans around here, so much so that we're planning TikTok videos all about this holiday makeover. We're tagging Audi, showing off the wreath, and crossing our fingers that someone at headquarters gets a kick out of it.
Because let's be honest: if we're going to draw all over a car, it might as well be a beautiful one.
Why We Did This
At Chalk Ink®, we're always looking for ways to show real, everyday uses for our products—not just the expected ones. Chalkboards are great. Menus are great. Weddings, signage, events—all great.
But when people see art drawn directly on a car, something clicks:
"Wait… you can do that?"
Yep. You can. And it looks incredible.
Art inspires curiosity, and curiosity inspires creativity. If this little experiment encourages someone to make their own bold, colorful statement—holiday-themed or not—we've done our job.
The Best Part? It Wipes Off Perfectly
So yes, I let someone draw a full holiday wreath on my white Audi SQ5.
Yes, it looked gorgeous.
Yes, people absolutely freaked out.
And yes—it wiped off perfectly with zero damage.
Holiday decorating doesn't have to stay confined to trees and mantels. Sometimes the best ideas happen when you're not afraid to turn the unexpected into a canvas.
And if you start seeing more decorated cars around town this season?
Well… we're not saying we started a trend.
But we're also not not saying that.
Happy decorating—and happy driving! 🎄🚗
